BackPacks and Beyond-Community Health Fair
Panhandle Cares Association is pleased to announce the success of its 2026 Backpacks and Beyond event, which connected local families with essential school supplies, community resources, and opportunities for children.
The event served 665 adults and 926 children, including 122 children below school age. A total of 770 backpacks were provided to students and families in attendance. The number of backpacks distributed does not directly correspond to the total number of children served, as many children were below school age and did not yet need a school backpack.
The event also featured 31 vendors and community booths, providing families with information, services, and resources to help them prepare for the upcoming school year.
In addition, 40 bicycles were donated to support local children and families. These donations added another meaningful element to the event and helped promote mobility, recreation, and healthy activity.
“Panhandle Cares Association is grateful to everyone who helped make Backpacks and Beyond 2026 possible,” said Jessica Eggers. “The participation from families, vendors, donors, volunteers, and community partners demonstrates the strength of our community and its commitment to helping children succeed.”
Panhandle Cares Association extends its appreciation to all volunteers, sponsors, vendors, donors, and community organizations whose support contributed to the event’s success.
